I want to spend a romantic weekend with my wife, somewhere far from crowded city streets. We live in San Jose and since it would be just for a weekend, Id like it to be somewhere within a three-hour ride range. Some of our friends regularly spend weekends at Chaminade Hotel in Santa Cruz, but Im not so thrilled with that idea since its a conference resort. What do you think?

Its true that Chaminade is described as very suitable for conferences, but this doesnt mean that its not good for a romantic weekend. Its a quiet and isolated resort surrounded with several hundred acres of green areas and with a magnificent view over Monterey Bay. Dont be turn off when you see that it has only three stars (which is actually good because its not pricey), since it is very beautifully furnished and I can say that the bed in Chaminade is one of the most comfortable Ive slept in. All in all, you can have a quiet, relaxed romantic weekend, in beautiful natural surroundings. The service in hotel is also worth mentioning and the staff are very friendly and helping.
