Before going to a Japanese restaurant, you have to be aware of prices, freshness and why not, the atmosphere you will encounter. I do not know much about their food, I guess you will have to eat it for years so that you could call yourself an expert, but I did have a nice time in Tsunami, 1160 N. Dearborn St (Gold Coast). Average fee for one is around 20$. I have also heard that Sushi X on Chicago Avenue is great too, but I havent been there.
