What can you tell me about hotels in Volcano Arenal National Park area? What are the prices, quality of the service and rooms and all that I have to know? This year Id like to go there and change my boring routine of visiting calm places where nothing happens at all. I want to see eruption live. Suggest me a nice, decent place to stay at. Thanks.

There are several hotels in Arenal area. Since one never knows when a stronger eruption can take place, hotels are not that exclusive and luxurious there. This doesnt mean that theyre dirty slums, but dont expect stylish furniture and Jacuzzi tubs. They vary from one to three-star resorts. You can stay at a hotel with a direct view on the volcano. If you want a budget hotel, I suggest you Cabinas el Castillo. The cabins are fronting the volcano and even form the cafeteria there is a panoramic view. The price is about 20 USD per person for a night. If you want something more luxurious then stay at Gran Arenal. Its also a lodge with a panoramic view but it has a three-star rank. There are 20 comfort rooms and a swimming pool. There are several more hotels in the area, but I liked these two.
