My girlfriend and I just love sea and beaches. We appreciate cultural and historical spots, landscape, mountains and other things tourists are looking for but the main reason we go to some country is warm sea and nice beaches. Is there any nice beach in Cayenne? We will spend one week in French Guiana and then we will go to Brazil.

Well, the best place around Cayenne where you can find good beaches is called Rémire-Montjoly. In fact, they are two separate towns but people usually call them by this common name. It is an area of long and very nice beaches. There, you will find one of the best waterfronts in French Guiana. The only drawback is large number of sand flies.

I agree with you that nice beach and warm sea is the best thing about vacation. I can’t imagine going to some city without access to the beach and spending two or three weeks there. Unfortunately, I don’t live by the sea so vacations are the only time I am able to alleviate this problem.

The best beach is Plage Montjoly. You can go there by taxi or by bus. There are many kitesurfers there. However, you won’t any surfing schools or renting places for the equipment. Although you will concentrate on the beach and swim most of the time, I suggest you visit ruins at Fort Diamant and take a hike to the top of Montagne du Mahury.
