Hi! I am an American, and I am soon to visit Paris. Since I have never been to any foreign country before, I suppose it would be better if I got used to the city spending at first a little more time at places often visited by Americans. I would thus like to know what are these places, and is this a good idea.

Being for the first time in another country is never easy, especially if you are visiting such complex and diverse city like Paris. If you are spending enough time there, it would probably be better if you went to some American place. There are lots of international restaurants where you will find people whose mother tongue is English. However, I think that the best place to go and to hang around with other Americans (although it is far from the fact that only they are visiting it), is the Starbucks. I believe it is the best place to start. There are seven or eight of that coffee shops scattered around Paris, so you can always come there when you want to rest a little from visiting all the places you probably plan to see while in Paris.
