I went to California last year and instead of going to the seaside, I went to the mountains. It turned out that it was the best thing I have done in years. It was really nice. I suggest to everyone who wants affordable winter holidays – try Sierra Nevada. You won’t regret it.

It is true. I went to Snow Pines and was really impressed. It is situated in "Big Trees" in the Sierra Nevada range of Northern California. It is really close to very nice redwood & pine area in the mountains. Still, only 15 minutes of drive, in Arnold there are various shops, restaurants and a supermarket.

Big Trees is really a good area. We visited many interesting places like Calaveras Big Trees State Park, Mercer Caverns, Lake Alpine, Moaning Caverns, Bear Valley Ski Resort. My husband enjoyed skiing on unorthodox trails while I adored walking in snowshoes. We stayed in a nice chalet which was really inexpensive.

I and my friends also stayed in a very nice non smoking chalet. We were welcomed on arrival and received some orientation and mountain driving hints which proved very handy later. The log fire was burning when we arrived and the driveway was plowed for snow. Everything was there; from normal household utilities to TV, Video player, CD player, Telephone, Fax, etc.
